Who is Tori Cooper?
Tori Cooper is an American journalist who has served as a multi-media journalist on a number of television stations in the United States. She initially wanted to be a professional soccer player. Cooper played on a full-ride Division 1 soccer scholarship at both the University of Colorado Boulder and the University of Georgia. At the universities, she competed in the PAC12 and the SEC.
To pursue a career in television, Cooper turned down professional soccer opportunities in the U.S. and in Barcelona Spain.
She began her television career, as a sports reporter intern at FOX31 Denver in May 2015. She later got the role of production behind the scenes in the newsroom on the morning show which aired from 2 a.m. to 4 a.m. During that time, she had a second job as a waitress working from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m then sleeping in her car and clocking back on from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. She would then head back to FOX31 for her shift at 1:30 a.m. the following day. On some days, she would skip her car nap time and go back to the studio where she would pull scripts and practice anchoring. She also used that time to shadow a reporter on a story until leaving the station in June 2016.
She eventually landed her first on-air job at ABC KAPP-KVEW local news in Kennewick WA in June 2016. There, she served as a Sports Anchor/ Reporter. She later transitioned into a multi-media journalist and anchor until November 2017.
Cooper later joined 23ABC News in Bakersfield, California, starting as a news reporter in January 2017. She was later promoted to a weekend anchor. There, she has covered a variety of stories including the prime court cases, shootings, immigration, devastating earthquakes, and the CA wildfires
