Michael Bolotin professionally known as Michael Bolton is a famous American singer and songwriter. From the mid-1970s to the mid-1980s, he originally performed in the hard rock and heavy metal genres. Both on his early solo albums and those he recorded as the frontman of the band Blackjack.


Michael became better known for his series of pop-rock ballads recorded after a stylistic change in the late 1980s. Michael Bolton Music Career

In 1975, Bolton began recording at The Church Studio in Tulsa, Oklahoma. His first album was self-titled using his original family name “Bolotin”. In his early musical career with his band Blackjack, he focused on hard rock. Bolton gained his first major hit as a songwriter co-writing “How Am I Supposed to Live Without You” for Laura Branigan. Laura took the song to No. 1 on the Adult Contemporary chart in 1983 for three weeks after narrowly missing the Top 10 on the US pop chart.

Bolton and Laura sought to work with each other again and their next collaboration was in 1985 when Bolton co-wrote ” I Found Someone” for Laura. In 1988, Michael wrote his own rendition of “How Am I Supposed to Live Without You” which reached No. 1 on the Hot 100. His greatest success came in the late 1980s and early 1990s as a singer on the adult contemporary/easy listening charts. In 1987, was one of his major hits an interpretation of the Otis Redding classic “(Sittin’ On) the Dock of the Bay”. Michael released the album Time, Love & Tenderness in 1991 which featured his Grammy Award-winning cover version of “When a Man Loves a Woman”.
