A Career at World Wide Wrestling Federation 1969-1979
When Vince was 12, he first met the promoter for Capitol Wrestling Corporation (CWC) who was his father Vincent J. McMahon. Vince became interested in following his father’s professional wrestling footsteps and he thereby would accompany him on trips at the Madison Square Garden. McMahon and his wife Linda in 1979 founded their own company Titan Sports. Following Vince’s ailing father, he acquired control of the CWC in 1982 ( his father later died in 1984).

Other business dealings

Vince and his wife Linda purchased the Cape Cod Coliseum and the Cape Cod Buccaneers of the Atlantic Coast Hockey League in 1979. McMahon in 1990, founded the World Bodybuilding Federation organization and in 1992 it was folded. Apart from professional wrestling, Vince launched the XFL, a professional American football league in 2000. The league began in February 2001 but ended after one season due to low television ratings. Career as a Commentator 1971-1997

Vince was sen as a commentator on television with his behind-the-scenes involvement generally kept off television for kayfabe-based reactions. He publicly identified himself as the owner of WWE but on television, his ownership was kept a secret. Instead, Jack Tunney was portrayed as the president of WWE. In 1971 Vince made his commentary debut when he replaced Ray Morgan. McMahon maintained the commentary role until November 1997.

A Career Feud with Stone Cold Steve Austin 1997-1999

On the episode Raw is War in December 1997, Vince talked about the attitude and behavior of Stone Cold Steve Austin such as Austin having assaulted commentators such as Jim Ross and McMahon himself together with WWF Commissioner Sgt. Slaughter. McMahon on the January 19, 1998 episode of Raw Is War called Mike Tyson to the ring for a major announcement. Before McMahon could make the announcement, Austin confronted Tyson.

This led to Tyson roughly pushing Austin at which point Tyson’s entourage and WWF security intervened and separated both men. Vince then became furiously angry by Austin’s actions screaming “YOU RUINED IT”. McMahon said he was damn sick and tired of seeing Stone Cold as the WWF Champion. In the fall of 1988, he developed a master to remove the championship from Stone Cold. He thereby employed the services of The Undertaker and Kane. After employing them, he set a triple threat match for the WWF Championship against the Undertaker and Kane vs Stone Cold. Austin lost the title after both Undertaker and Kane pinned him simultaneously.

A Career of the McMahon-Helmsley Era 2000-2001

On March 13, 2000, Vince returned to WWF television. Upon his return, he attacked Shane McMahon and Triple H. McMahon, Shane and Triple H at the king of the ring took on the Brothers of Destruction (The Undertaker and Kane) and the Rock in a six-man tag team match. The Rock was put in a brutal assault and suspension in order for the Rock to film “The Scorpion King”.

2001 to 2005 Career

In March 2001, Vince bought his long-time competitor World Championship Wrestling (WCW) from AOL Time Warner. Ric Flair returned to WWF in November 2001 declaring himself as the co-owner of WWF. This resulted in a street fight at Royal Rumble in January 2002. Flair won the match and due to their status as co-owners, Flair became the owner of Raw and McMahon the owner of Smackdown. However, their rivalry ended after McMahon defeated Flair on the Raw episode of June 10 thus becoming the sole owner of WWE.

2005 to 2007 Career

Vince personally reviewed Bret Hart’s DVD on December 26, 2005. McMahon started a rivalry with Donald Trump in January 2007. Trump originally wanted to fight McMahon but instead, they would both pick a representative to wrestle at Wrestlemania 23 in a Hair vs Hair match. This meant the man whose wrestle would lose would have his head shaven bald. At Wrestlemania 23 McMahon’s representative (Umaga) lost to Trump’s representative (Bobby Lashley). As a result of the loss, Vince’s head was shaven bald by Trump and Lashley with the help of Stone Cold.

2007 to 2008

WWE aired a segment at the end of Raw on June 11, 2007, which featured McMahon entering a limousine moments before it exploded. WWE reported that McMahon was presumed dead. Later WWE acknowledged to CNBC that he was not truly dead and that it was part of a storyline.

McMahon announced his retirement from in-ring competition on the Raw episode of November 16, 2009.

2018-Present
