Brandon Johansen is a well-known American journalist serving at the ABC30 Action News digital team since December 2018. He came back to his motherland Fresno after years away studying in Phoenix and working in Bakersfield.
Johansen’s journalism career started at State Center Community College District, Reedley College in August 2011. He served as their sports announcer until May 2013. Between May and August 2014, he served as an intern at One-Putt Broadcasting. He returned there in May 2015 and served for four months as a promotion and production executive. Johansen has interned at Bonneville Phoenix – KTAR and Arizona Sports between August 2014 and May 2015. After the internship is when he returned to One-Putt Broadcasting. Johansen served as a barista at Starbucks coffee shop between January 2013 and December 2015.
In August 2015, Johansen landed a job as a production intern at FOX Sports Arizona. He served in that position for five months until December when he completed his internship. Early January 2016, KERO-TV hired Johansen as a multimedia journalist. He served as a weekend evening anchor and general assignment news reporter. Johansen was based in Bakersfield for a period of three years.
During his tenure at KERO-TV, Johansen received a nomination for an Emmy award for his story about a Bakersfield cold case. Additionally, he served as a fill-in forecaster and lend a hand in the production of sports content. Johansen resigned from the channel when he secured a job at KFSN-TV in December 2018 where he is currently working.
