She made history as the first woman to serve as the chairman, president, and CEO of IBM. After 40years of service at IBM, Ginni retired on 31st December 2020. Before becoming the president, Rometty served as a systems engineer from 1981 and headed global sales, marketing, and strategy.
As IBM CEO, Rometty concentrated on cognitive computing systems, cloud computing, and analytics. During her tenure as CEO, she garnered notable awards. Rometty landed her first job at General Motors Institute in Flint in 1979. Her role was systems development and application. She joined IBM in 1981 as a systems engineer and system analyst in Detroit. She spent ten years in technical positions at IBM.
