Sheldon Dutes is an American journalist who serves as an anchor and reporter for WISN 12 News. He co-anchors the weekday editions of WISN 12 News, and also reports for various newscasts. Dutes joined WISN 12 in 2015 as a weekend evening co-anchor. Sheldon’s live reporting from the field and the anchor desk during breaking news have helped WISN 12 News earn two Emmy awards for Outstanding Achievement for News Programming.
Sheldon started his career as a production assistant at the NBC affiliate in South Bend, Indiana. Before moving to join WISN 12, he spent three years covering breaking news and severe weather in New York City, NJ, and CT as a reporter for WNBC-TV. He once worked as a general assignment reporter for WBAL-TV, the Hearst-owned NBC affiliate in Baltimore. He also reported for WCSC-TV in Charleston, South Carolina in the United States.
Sheldon is also an advisory board member for The Gallivan Program in Journalism, Ethics, and Democracy at Notre Dame. In 2019, he was elected Vice President of the Wisconsin Black Media Association.
