Before entering politics, she worked as a barrister in commercial law in London. At the age of 40, she was appointed Queen’s Counsel. In December 2013, she was selected as the Conservative Party’s prospective Parliamentary candidate for South East Cambridgeshire. She went on to be elected at the 2015 general election with 28,845 votes (48.5%) a majority of 16,837. Later that year, she was elected to the Education Select Committee.
