Gurvir Dhindsa Biography
Gurvir Dhindsa is an American reporter and journalist of Indian heritage. She is the morning news reporter for the CBS 46 network.
She attended Middle Tennessee State University in Murfreesboro, Tennessee where she received a degree in Journalism. After her graduation, she got her first job in her hometown of Nashville before her career took her to Mississippi, Atlanta, and Washington, DC.
She began her journalism career in 1997 as a news anchor for Good Day Atlanta at Fox 5. Gurvir worked there until 2000 and then moved to Washington D.C. to work for a number of stations up until 2011.
She joined WUSA-TV, Channel 9 in January 2000. She later lost her job a few years later on the same day their Australian shepherd dog Cutter died.
Dhindsa re-joined Good Day Atlanta in 2011 as a replacement for Suchita Vadlamani who quit work to raise her kid.
Gurvir has gained recognition in her journalism career and won several awards for her anchoring and field reports. She has won several awards from the Mississippi Associated Press and also had an Emmy nomination for covering the Atlanta tornado.

Gurvir was born in a family of educators. She was born as the eldest daughter to Harbans and Dev who were teachers at the Alabama Institute for the Deaf and Blind. Dhindsa has two sisters, Gurjeet who is a teacher, and Tina, a doctor. Her father noticed that she had an interest in the high school debate and encouraged her to study broadcast journalism in college.
Her family moved to the United States when she was seven years old. Dhindsa and her family are active members of First Baptist Woodstock.

Dhindsa is married to Tom Sater a meteorologist at CNN International in Atlanta. The couple had controversies at the beginning of their relationship from their previous marriages.
The couple has two children together, daughters who are twins born in 2008.

She joined CBS46 in October 2017. She anchors the CBS46 Morning News from 4:30-7 AM Monday through Friday. Dhindsa loves waking up with Atlanta every morning, but she is delighted to get out in the community to share the “good news” stories that make our area so special.
Gurvir’s favorites are “Positively Georgia” which highlights some of the amazing people making a difference; as well as the CBS 46 Surprise Squad, which honors those who go above and beyond to help others.
She is also part of the CBS 46 Books to Kids program which works to bring literacy and a love of reading to area school children.
