Mixed martial arts and Early Career
Right after college, Velasquez began his mixed martial arts career and joined the American Kickboxing Academy. He made his MMA debut against Jesse Fujarczyk on October 7, 2006, at Strikeforce: Tank vs Buentello. Velasquez made his UFC debut at UFC 83 against Brad Morris and won by TKO in the first round. In his next fight at UFC Fight Night 14, he defeated Jake O’Brien via TKO in the first round. Velasquez was awarded ‘Knockout of the Night after winning by TKO in the second round and defeating Denis Stojnic at UFC Fight Night 17. A Career at UFC Heavyweight Champion
Cain with his victory against Nogueira earned himself a UFC Heavyweight Championship with then-champion Brock Lesnar at UFC 121. A Career with Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide
Cain signed a multi-match agreement with Mexican professional wrestling promotion Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide in March 2019, as a heavyweight competitor. He made his debut for the promotion at Triplemania XXVII in a trios match, teaming with Cody Rhodes and Psycho Clown, to face Texano Jr, Taurus, and Killer Kross. In the fight, Cain won for his team by submitting Texano Jr, with a Kimura lock.
A Career at WWE
On the first episode of Smackdown on Fox on October 4, 2019, Velasquez made his WWE debut. In his debut he was accompanied by Rey Mysterio, coming out to confront and attack Brock Lesnar after his WWE Championship victory as a measure of revenge for Lesnar attacking Rey and his son, Dominick. Cain took down Lesnar and struck him with punches before Lesnar escaped the ring and retreated. On October 31, 2019, Cain faced Lesnar at Crown Jewel for the WWE Championship, but Cain lost.
